Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do
Tang Soo Do is a Korean style which dates back to 1944. The name was originally used by a Korean martial artist Lee, Won Kuk who studied Shotokan Karate with it's founder Gichin Funakoshi while studying in Japan during the Japanese occupation of Korea. One of his many students was a young man named Hwang, Kee. Hwang Kee had previously learned Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan and also practiced Tae Kyun before eventually training with Master Lee. After some time, Hwang Kee formed his own organisation using the name Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do as this would've been familiar to many Koreans (there were a number of Kendo and Karate dojangs in Korea using the term Moo duk Kwan during the occupation period).
Eventually, Tang Soo Do was able to spread throughout the world due to the exceptional abilities of those early practitioners. Carlos 'Chuck' Norris, who studied Tang Soo Do while stationed in Korea, was renowned for his exceptional points fighting career long before he started acting. Over a long period of development, Tang Soo Do has become a system which embraces the traditional techniques of Japanese Karate as well as the Korean kicking methods and the internal power of Chinese systems such as Tai Chi.
